<p>The highly anticipated 4 Nations Face-Off championship between Canada and the United States had more than 16 million people tune into the game.</p>



<p>The breakdown comes from over 9.25 million viewers in the United States and 6.883 million in Canada. The Sportsnet broadcast was averaging 5.7 million viewers and peaked at 10.7 million Canadians.</p>

<p>When Connor McDavid played hero, scoring the overtime winner for Canada, the concurrent audience peaked at 7.3 million in Canada. According to Sportsnet, 14.4 million Canadians tuned in to 4 Nations Face-Off on their network. The viewership of 16 million plus, ranks this game higher than any NHL game ever.</p>

<p>Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper spoke to the media post-game following the win. “This one was different. This wasn’t a win for themselves. This was a win for 40-plus million people, and the guys knew it and they delivered,” said Cooper.</p>



<p>While McDavid scored the overtime winner, it was Nathan MacKinnon securing the MVP award for the 4 Nations Face-Off. MacKinnon scored the opening goal for Canada in Thursday’s finale, MacKinnon finished the tournament with five goals in four games, including one in the championship game, and also led the tournament in goal-scoring.</p>



<p>Team Canada goaltender Jordan Binnington ended up making 31 saves in the win.
