The Canadian Hockey League has announced that the London Knights and Oshawa Generals will serve as hosts for the first-ever CHL USA Prospects Challenge this fall.

The Budweiser Gardens in London will host the opening game on Nov. 26, with the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa welcoming the two teams on Nov. 27.

NHL Central Scouting will put together the CHL’s roster using 2025 NHL Draft prospects from the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL. USA will ice its National Team Development Program roster, which competes against USHL and NCAA competition all season long.

The current deal will see this CHL/USA Hockey rivalry continue for at least the next three seasons, with a different CHL member league hosting each year.

“We are really excited to be heading to two strong hockey markets in London and Oshawa for the inaugural edition of this brand-new event,” CHL president Dan MacKenzie said in a league statement. “The CHL USA Prospects Challenge will be a can’t-miss, two-game series on the prospect calendar not only for this season but for years to come. We look forward to bringing it to life in London and Oshawa this November and providing our incredible fans with a chance to come watch a future generation of NHL stars.”

According to the CHL, teams will win two points for a victory, no matter if it comes in regulation, overtime, or a shootout. If tied after 60 minutes, a five-minute, 3-on-3 overtime will occur, with at three-round shootout available if needed. If the series is tied 1-1 after the second game, both teams will play sudden-death, 3-on-3 overtime to determine an overall series winner.

Notable players who could participate in the event include Porter Martone, Michael Misa and Matthew Schaefer for Canada, as well as LJ Mooney, Charlie Trethewey and William Moore for USA.
