Ullmark becomes the 13th different goalie in NHL history to score a goal. He’s only the eighth goalie to score off a shot on goal, as opposed to the other team putting the puck in their own net.

He joins an elite company alongside Martin Brodeur (3 goals), Ron Hextal (2 goals), Billy Smith, Chris Osgood, Damian Rhodes, Jose Theodore, Evgeni Nabokov, Mika Noronen, Chris Mason, Cam Ward, Mike Smith, and Pekka Rinne.

The Bruins netminder is the first goalie to accomplish this feat since long-time Nashville Predators’ goalie Rinne netted one on January 9th, 2020.

The Bruins are in the midst of an exhilarating season, winning their sixth straight game. They currently sit at first place in the NHL by a wide margin, a full nine points ahead of the second-place Carolina Hurricanes. They have a record of 45-8-5, which puts them on pace for one of the greatest seasons in NHL history.

The 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning share the record for the most wins in a season with 62. The Bruins are on pace for 63 this season. The 1975-76 Montreal Canadiens hold the record for the most points in a season, with 132. This season, the Bruins are on track for 134.

However, regular season records don’t mean much when the playoffs start, as many teams know all too well. The 2019 Lightning got swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets and the 1996 Red Wings made it to the conference finals, but lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champions.

This season, Ullmark has been the starting goalie for the Bruins and the current favourite to win the Vezina Trophy. He owns a record of 29-4-1 with a 1.86 GAA and .938 SV%.
