In a corresponding move, the Fleet placed forward Jillian Dempsey to the team’s Reserve Player list.
Babstock started the season on the Fleet’s Reserve Player list, activated on a 10-day contract on Jan. 2 and playing in three games.
Last season, Babstock appeared in four regular-season games, producing one assist. Babstock also played in all eight playoff games for Boston, helping lead the team to the PWHL Finals against the Minnesota Frost.
Babstock spent the previous seven seasons in the NWHL/PHF, playing for the Connecticut Whale, Buffalo Beauts, Metropolitan Riveters. She scored 42 goals and 54 assists for 96 points in 112 career games, finishing with average of 0.86 points per game.
Before turning pro, Babstock spent four seasons playing college hockey at Quinnipiac University, posting four consecutive seasons averaging more than a point per game. In 148 games, Babstock scored 95 goals and 108 assists for 203 points, including a dominant 2012-13 season where she scored 28 goals and 27 assists for 55 points in just 36 games.
The Fleet are 7-5-4-6 with 35 points, third in the PWHL standings with a plus-seven plus-minus rating. It’s a tight playoff race in the league, with Boston just one point back of the second-place Toronto Sceptres, and while tied with the Minnesota Frost in points, they have played two less games.
Hilary Knight leads the team in scoring with 21 points, by way of 11 goals and 10 assists in 22 games.
