Aube-Kubel was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the 2014 draft. He made his NHL debut in 2018-19 and spent parts of four seasons with the Flyers before he was claimed off of waivers by the Colorado Avalanche in November of 2021.

The 26-year-old put together the most productive season of his career while with the Avs, as he scored 11 goals and 22 points over the course of 67 regular season games. He also suited up for 14 games during Colorado’s Stanley Cup run but didn’t score any points.

In the off-season, the Avs opted not to issue Aube-Kubel a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent, which allowed him to hit the open market. He inked a one-year, $1 million deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played just six games with Toronto before getting claimed off of waivers by the Capitals. Since joining Washington, Aube-Kubel has scored two goals and eight points over 30 games.

Aube-Kubel was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2022-23 season.
