The 2024-25 campaign will be the finale for <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/chicago-blackhawks/line-combinations">Chicago Blackhawks</a> veteran left winger Patrick Maroon.



Prior to puck drop Saturday versus the Central Division rival <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/st-louis-blues/line-combinations">St. Louis Blues</a>, the longtime NHL forward told CHSN’s Darren Pang that he plans to retire at the conclusion of the season, per <a href="https://x.com/BenPopeCST/status/1903521453573619905">Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times</a>.



This season, through 59 appearances with the Blackhawks, Maroon has registered four goals and 12 assists for 16 points coupled with a minus-11 rating and a team-leading 81 penalty minutes.



A veteran of 839 career games counting stops with the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/anaheim-ducks/line-combinations">Anaheim Ducks</a>, <a href="https://oilersnation.com/">Edmonton Oilers</a>, <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-jersey-devils/line-combinations">New Jersey Devils</a>, Blues, <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/tampa-bay-lightning/line-combinations">Tampa Bay Lightning</a>, <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/minnesota-wild/line-combinations">Minnesota Wild</a>, <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/boston-bruins/line-combinations">Boston Bruins</a>, and Blackhawks, Maroon has recorded 125 goals and 195 assists for 320 career points. With the Oilers in 2016-17, Maroon reached a career-high 42 points counting 27 goals and 16 assists coming in 81 games. The 36-year-old native of St. Louis, Mo., has also impressed in the postseason where through 163 outings he has collected 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points, underscored by three consecutive Stanley Cup titles with the Blues and Lightning from 2019-21.<div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="186"></div>



A dominant performer in the junior ranks, Maroon spent a single season with the OHL’s London Knights in 2007-08 where through 64 outings he racked up 35 goals and 55 assists for 90 points. Maroon was originally chosen by the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/philadelphia-flyers/line-combinations">Philadelphia Flyers</a> in the sixth round of the 2007 NHL Draft.



For the Blackhawks, on the season the clubs sits second-to-last in the Western Conference with a 20-40-9 record and 49 points, underscored by a current five-game losing skid. Earlier this week, the Blackhawks were eliminated from postseason contention, marking the fifth-straight year in which the club will not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.



Following Saturday’s showdown against the rival Blues, the Blackhawks head home Sunday to begin a five-game homestand against the Flyers.
