Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin will make his long-awaited return to the lineup Wednesday versus the Central Division rival Nashville Predators following a 58-game absence due to hip surgery, reports Sam Nestler of DLLS Sports.
Sidelined since early December, Seguin has been limited to 19 appearances with the Stars this season in which he has registered nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points coupled with two penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating.
Originally chosen second overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Draft, Seguin is in the midst of his 15th season where through 988 career contests he has totaled 360 goals and 448 assists for 808 points. A five-time 30-plus goal scorer, Seguin reached a career-high 84 points with the Stars in 2013-14 where through 80 games he posted 37 goals and 47 assists. The 33-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., has also added 25 goals and 46 assists for 71 points through 133 postseason appearances underscored by a run to the Stanley Cup Final with Dallas in 2020 in addition to a championship year during his rookie campaign with the Bruins.
Seguin rejoins a Stars squad situated second place in the Central Division with a 50-25-6 record and 106 points, poised to take on the divisional rival Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The two sides met up three times in the regular season, with the Avalanche coming away with a pair of victories.
While the Stars will see Seguin return to the lineup, there remains uncertainty of when 25-year-old Finnish-born rearguard Miro Heiskanen will rejoin the club. On Monday, Stars general manager Jim Nill noted that Heiskanen will not play in Game 1 of the playoffs but left open the possibility that he could return later in the series. Heiskanen has been sidelined since later January are undergoing knee surgery.
