It’s another disappointing season for the Buffalo Sabres, and now after last week’s Trade Deadline, Spittin’ Chiclets’ Paul Bisonnette claimed on the podcast that he told general manager Kevyn Adams he would request a trade if the team does not improve.
Dahlin furiously denied the report Tuesday, telling reporters he didn’t know what Bisonnette was talking about.
“I have never said I want out of here,” he said. “I’m not happy with where we’re at, I don’t want to lose. We have to get better. I’ve never said I want out of here; I thought that was pretty clear.”
On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk play another edition of “Smoke or Fire?” with the Sabres’ captain at the middle of recent controversy, and if his time in Buffalo may be coming to an end.
Tyler Yaremchuk: There was some interesting comments over the last week, one by Paul Bisonnette about Rasmus Dahlin potentially not wanting to be in Buffalo, then Dahlin comes out and adamantly pushes back against that.
I want to ask you not just “Smoke or Fire?” on Dahlin but “Smoke or Fire?” on the idea that there could be a handful of players in Buffalo at the end of this season saying, “If we’re restarting, count me out.”
Frank Seravalli: I’m going to go “False Alarm” on Dahlin, because of all the players that we’ve heard talked about so far this year in Buffalo, and being in last place opens yourself up to so many of these conversations, two guys I didn’t hear in these conversations was Dahlin and Tage Thompson.
I’ve heard Owen Power, JJ Peterka, and Dylan Cozens. It was definitely out there. That being said, I do think that it’s not just “Smoke,” but “Fire” that there’s a huge majority of this roster that’s unhappy with the spot that they’re in, and doesn’t see a clear direction on how they’re going to get out of the mess that they’re in.
They’re not necessarily seeing the big picture, and I can understand why people would be feeling that way.
