The Ducks acquired Fabbri from Detroit along with a 2025 conditional fourth-round pick in exchange for goaltender Gage Alexander.
Last season with Detroit, Fabbri notched 18 goals and 14 assists finishing with 32 points. The Mississauga, ON native, has one season remaining on his contract, and is owed $4 million in 2024-25. Fabbri was originally acquired by the Red Wings back in 2019 in a trade with the St Louis Blues.
Fabbri’s best season was way back during his rookie campaign in 2015-16 when he collected a career-high 37 points in 72 games. Unfortunately injuries have crept into the picture on numerous occasions throughout Fabbri’s entire career as he’s yet to play a full 82-game season.
Over parts of 10 seasons in the NHL, Fabbri has racked up 106 goals and 110 assists for 216 points in 442 regular season games with the Blues, Red Wings and Ducks.
Meanwhile, the Ducks have recalled Sam Colangelo from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the San Diego Gulls. Colangelo has scored one goal in 12 NHL games with Anaheim this season.
Colangelo has tallied 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 38 AHL games this season. Colangelo led all Gulls skaters in goals and was third among all AHL rookies in goals and tied for fifth in points per game. Colangelo represented San Diego at the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic Feb. 2-3.
Anaheim is slated to face the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. The Ducks currently sit sixth in the Pacific Division
