Our Weekend Streamers series aims to help you steal your matchup by getting the most value possible out of the limited transactions in your fantasy league. Every Friday, we break down the teams and skaters with the most streamer-friendly schedules over the weekend.
This weekend features six games on Friday, 11 on Saturday, and seven on Sunday. There are six teams playing on both Friday and Sunday this weekend, so we are going to switch up the format a little bit and look at the top options at each ownership range in Yahoo! Fantasy leagues, starting with 40% – 31%.
40% – 31%: Logan Stankoven (C/LW – 37% Owned)
The Stars travel to Vegas on Friday before heading back home to host the Flames on Sunday. The injury to Tyler Seguin created a hole in Dallas’ top six, and right now Logan Stankoven is the one filling it. The 21-year-old is currently skating with Matt Duchene and Mason Marchment on Dallas’ second line and power-play unit. The trio has performed extremely well in their limited time together, averaging a robust 38 scoring chances and 15 high-danger chances per 60.
Stankoven is firing at the puck on net at an impressive rate, racking up 63 shots on goal in 23 games despite playing less than 16 minutes a night. His 6.3% shooting percentage is due for some positive regression, and don’t be surprised if that regression to the mean starts this weekend while Stankoven enjoys an increased role on the Stars’ dominant second line. Grab him while you still can.
30% – 16%: Oliver Bjorkstrand (RW – 16% Owned)
Oliver Bjorkstrand continues to make the most out of a limited role in Seattle, racking up nearly 2.5 shots per game despite an ATOI of just 15:16. The Kraken are in New Jersey on Friday before making the short trip to Madison Square Garden to face the Rangers on Sunday. Bjorkstrand projects to be skating alongside Shane Wright and Eeli Tolvanen on Seattle’s third line. The trio is averaging an impressive 31 scoring chances and 12 high-danger chances per 60, but the real upside here comes on the power-play, where Bjorkstrand regularly serves as one of the primary shooting options on the team’s first unit.
The former Blue Jacket is enjoying his most productive stretch of the season and is red-hot coming into the weekend. He’s in the midst of a seven-game point streak, piling up three goals, five assists, and 16 shots on goal over that span. Bjorkstrand is a great bet to stay hot and find the scoresheet once again this weekend.
15% – 0%: Jaden Schwartz (C – 7% Owned)
Jaden Schwartz makes for a great consolation prize if you aren’t fortunate enough to find his teammate Bjorkstrand on your waiver wire. The 14-year-veteran is quietly putting together another productive season, totaling seven goals and ten assists across 27 games. Though he is limited to a spot on the second power-play unit, the Kraken tend to have more balanced usage between their two units than most teams, and Schwartz continues to eat minutes at 5v5.
Schwartz has developed some potent chemistry with his youthful centre Matty Beniers, and the line’s production has really taken off following the addition of Yanni Gourde to their wing. Schwartz is up to three goals and two assists across his last four games while averaging just under 18 minutes a night. He may not be the most exciting name, but it’s rare to find production this reliable when you’re scraping through the bottom of your league’s free agency barrel.
