On Tuesday, it was announced that the Calgary Flames re-signed goaltender Dustin Wolf to a two-year contract.
The deal will be two-way in 2024-25, with Wolf making 850,000 at the NHL level, $275,000 in the American Hockey League and a guaranteed $375,000. In the second season, Wolf will be on a one-way contract worth $850,000 at any level.
Wolf was a restricted free agent after the expiration of his three-year, entry-level contract that he signed with Calgary in 2020.

In 2023-24, Wolf played in 17 NHL games with the Flames, including 15 starts. The 23-year-old finished with a 7-7-1 record, a 3.16 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage. He has played in 18 career NHL games over the past two seasons, holding an 8-7-1 record, a 3.03 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage.
In the AHL, Wolf has been a far more consistent goaltender. In 36 AHL games with the Calgary Wranglers last season, Wolf went 20-12-3 with a 2.45 goals-against average (11th among AHL goalies) and a .922 save percentage (4th). He ranked 8th with four shutouts.
Wolf was even better in the Calder Cup Playoffs. In six playoff games, the California native went 3-3-0-1 (Win-Loss-Overtime-Shootout) with a .924 save percentage. The Wranglers were eliminated by the Coachella Valley Firebirds (Seattle Kraken) in the Pacific Division Semifinals.
Wolf has racked up 3,958 saves in his AHL career, going 97-32-9-11 with a 2.29 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage and six assists in 141 AHL games. He holds a 16-12-0-5 record in 28 Calder Cup Playoff games. In 2022-23, he led the AHL in wins (42), shutouts (7), goals-against average (2.09), and save percentage (.932). He was named the AHL’s Goaltender of the Year for the second consecutive season and the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL’s most valuable player.
Prior to turning pro, Wolf was excellent in three seasons with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. In his final junior season, he went 34-10-2 with a 1.88 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage just shy of his career-high (.936 in 2018-19).
Wolf was originally drafted by Calgary in the seventh round (No. 214) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
