Luff is coming off a one-year extension he signed with Detroit prior to the 2023-24 season, he last played in the NHL during the 2022-23 season where he tallied four points in 19 games, a season that was cut short due to wrist surgery.

The Oakville native was an undrafted free-agent forward and signed his entry-level contract with the L.A. Kings in 2016 after an impressive rookie camp. He made his NHL debut with the Kings during the 2018-19 season, registering eight goals and three assists in 33 games. Following his three-year tenure with the Kings, Luff signed with the Nashville Predators. Throughout his career, he has scored 15 goals and 27 points in 106 games over five NHL seasons with Los Angeles, Nashville and Detroit.

Meanwhile, Luff has had a good run in the AHL, he has tallied 67 goals and 96 assists for 163 points in 223 AHL games with the Ontario Reign, Milwaukee Admirals and Grand Rapids.

Prior to his NHL tenure, Luff spent three seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Hamilton Bulldogs, registering 61 goals and 76 assists for 137 points in 170 games and 96 penalty minutes.

With Luff joining the reigning Stanley Cup champions on a PTO, he joins the likes of Nate Schmidt, A.J. Greer, Tomas Nosek and Jesper and Adam Boqvist as free-agent signings heading into the 2024-25 campaign.
