Philadelphia Flyers goaltending prospect Ivan Fedotov is currently at a remote military base in Northern Russia, agent J.P. Barry told The Associated Press. 







Fedotov, who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2015 NHL Draft, inked a one-year entry-level contract with the Flyers back on May 7. He was planning to move to the United States but was picked up by Russian law enforcement last week while shooting a documentary in his home city of St. Petersburg and was taken to a military enlistment center. 



Slava Malamud, a Russian reporter based in the United States, suggested that signing a contract to play in the NHL upset CSKA Moscow (also known as Central Sports Club of the Army), Fedotov’s KHL team, and that his punishment could be joining the military. <div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="134"></div>



Fedotov put up a 0.919 save percentage in 26 regular-season games for CSKA and a 0.937 in the playoffs. He was also Russia’s starting goalie at the Olympics in Beijing this past February.
