The Columbus Blue Jackets have been one of the league’s best stories of the year, going from a perennial basement team in the NHL, to a squad with a 28-22-8 record and 64 points, fourth in the Metropolitan Division and currently holding on to the No. 2 Wild Card Spot in the Eastern Conference.

Defenseman Zach Werenski, fresh off of having one of the standout performances at the 4 Nations Face-Off, leads the team in scoring with 62 points, by way of 18 goals and 44 assists. Forward Kirill Marchenko leads the team in goals with 23, which combined with his 36 assists for 59 points.

On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk take part in the #AskDFO segment, where one viewer asks what type of moves the Blue Jackets may be willing to do as we approach the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline.

Tyler Yaremchuk: This one comes from Kristopher Palmer: Where is Columbus looking to add to reward their team?

Another spot where maybe they’re looking for longer-term pieces? Is that fair?

Frank Seravalli: I think so. I think they’d also be in that Calgary Flames swimming pool of, “Hey is there something left at the end of the day that we don’t have to spend a lot on?” Maybe a morale boost, saying “Hey guys, there’s reinforcements coming?”

I would think down the middle, Boone Jenner coming back is an indication of how thin things have been down the middle. They desperately need solid center play. On the backend, Erik Gudbranson getting closer, skating again, and he hasn’t played in months upon months. Any support you could provide there, as well.

Those would be the two positions I look at.
