The Ottawa, Ontario native notched 34 goals and 36 assists for a career high 70 points in 57 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Sudbury Wolves. Villeneuve ranked second on the Wolves in goals and points, trailing Winnipeg Jets prospect Keiron Walton; he also added 120 penalty minutes.
He added four goals and five points in four OHL Playoff contests as Sudbury was eliminated by the Kingston Frontenacs in the first round of the OHL playoffs. In addition to 12 power-play goals, Villeneuve was second in the OHL with eight short-handed goals.
During his draft year, Villeneuve tallied 23 goals and 27 assists for 50 points in 56 games, which put him seventh among Wolves skaters behind St. Louis Blues forward Dalibor Dvorsky, San Jose Sharks prospect Quentin Musty and Seattle Kraken prospect David Goyette.
Internationally, Villeneuve represented Canada White at the 2022-23 Under-17 World Hockey Championships, where he tallied three goals and five points in seven games, winning a silver medal.
Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis had this to say about Villeneuve when he was selected by the Kraken last summer, “[Villeneuve’s] an all-around forward who plays with good pace and isn’t afraid to mix it up along the boards. Villeneuve loves to spend time causing havoc in front of the net and plays a strong off-puck game compared to many others around this point in the list. His energy and feistiness will give him a shot in the NHL, even if he doesn’t have the pure skill to burn.”
