<p>As reported, Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has returned to practice this morning ahead of Toronto’s game on Wednesday vs. Florida Panthers.</p>



<p>Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving revealed that forward<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/leafs-auston-matthews-visiting-doctor-in-germany-for-injury-targeting-late-november-return"> Matthews had travelled to Munich, Germany</a> to receive treatment for his recent upper-body injury and has returned.</p>

<p>Matthews was&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/maple-leafs-auston-matthews-to-miss-second-game-with-upper-body-injury">placed on injured reserve</a>&nbsp;back on Nov. 8 with an unspecified upper-body injury. However,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/maple-leafs-auston-matthews-out-day-to-day-with-upper-body-injury">head coach Craig Berube</a>&nbsp;assured that it had nothing to do with the wrist injuries he suffered in the past. The former USNTDP product has missed the Leafs’ last number of games dealing with an upper-body injury.</p><div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="134"></div>



<p>Before being put on the injured reserve, the 27-year-old appeared in Toronto’s first 13 games of the season, scoring five goals and six assists for 11 points, a little off the point-per-game average we have grown accustomed to seeing from the former first-overall pick.</p>



<p>Matthews entered the 2024-25 season after having the best goal-scoring season in franchise history. He set a new Leaf record with 69 goals in 81 games, posting a career-high 107 points.</p>



<p>In 575 career appearances, Matthews has scored 373 goals and 287 assists for 660 points, including another 48 points in 55 postseason games.</p>



<p>The Maple Leafs currently sit first in the Atlantic Division with a 13-6-2 record and 28 points.
