<p>A young blueliner who’s slowly coming into his own has inked a new deal.</p>



<p>On Monday, <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/montreal-canadiens/line-combinations">Montreal Canadiens</a> general manager Kent Hughes announced that the team has signed defenseman Jayden Struble to a two-year contract. The deal will carry an AAV of $1,412,500 through the 2026-27 season.</p>

<p>Struble is coming off his two-year, entry-level contract, which saw him have an NHL AAV of $925,000. </p>



<p>The Cumberland, Rhode Island native was originally taken by the Canadiens in the second round, 46th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft. After finishing up a fruitful four-year career at Northeastern University, Struble turned pro late in the 2022-23 season with the Laval Rocket, the Habs’ American Hockey League affiliate.</p><div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="140"></div>



<p>However, Struble has spent little time in Laval over the past couple of seasons, spending the majority of that time in Montreal. After a promising rookie campaign, which saw him produce 10 points in 56 games in 2023-24, Struble found a little more production on a team that snapped its four-year playoff drought. In 56 regular-season affairs, Struble posted two goals and 11 assists for a career-best 13 points, registering a plus/minus of +2 while averaging a hair under 15 minutes of ice time per game. That comes after he played just over 16 minutes a night in his first year with the Canadiens.</p>



<p>Struble made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut this past spring, playing in two games against the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/washington-capitals/line-combinations">Washington Capitals</a>. <p>In his time with the Habs thus far, the 23-year-old has appeared in 112 games, scoring five goals and 18 assists for 23 points, with a career rating of -1. In 24 appearances with the Rocket, he posted a goal and seven assists for eight points with a +9 rating.</p>
