If Hinostroza were to clear waivers on Wednesday, he could be reassigned to the Predators’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals.

Hinostroza started the 2024-25 season with the Admirals after he cleared waivers prior to the beginning of the regular season. He was called up to the Preds in late December and has been in and out of the lineup ever since. With some games seeing the veteran as a healthy scratch, Hinostroza has played just 13 games in the NHL this season, posting two assists, including a helper in Nashville’s 5-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday night.

The 30-year-old almost matched the number of games he played with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season, which saw Hinostroza appear in 14 games, his lowest total since he broke into the league during the 2015-16 season.

Hinostroza was having a great season with the Admirals before getting called up. In 26 games in the AHL, he notched 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points. The former Chicago Blackhawk was on pace to reach his career high of 51 points that he set as a member of the Rockford IceHogs during the 2015-16 season.

The Chicago native came to the Predators organization after signing a two-year, two-way contract this past summer. His deal has an NHL cap hit of $775,000 through the 2025-26 campaign.

Across 11 seasons in the NHL, Hinostroza has made stops with the Arizona Coyotes, Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres. In 387 games, he has notched 54 goals and 99 assists for 153 points, posting two assists in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The Predators (18-27-7) are seventh in the Central Division, 16 points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
