The New York Islanders have invited 35-year-old goaltender Keith Kinkaid to training camp on a player tryout agreement (PTO).
In a funny twist, people on X pointed out that Kinkaid was listed on the rookie roster, despite being 10+ years older than most.

Kinkaid signed a two-way deal with the New Jersey Devils last summer but spent the 2023-24 season with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) where he posted an 8-14-2 record and a 3.54 goals-against average in 24 starts.
Kinkaid spent the 2022-23 campaign split between the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche. Kinkaid appeared in one game with the Bruins, where he earned a victory and one game with the Avalanche. He primarily spent time in the AHL, split between the Colorado Eagles and Providence Bruins.
The Farmingville, New York agent signed with New Jersey as a free agent on April 18, 2011. He logged his NHL debut on March 5, 2013, vs. the Tampa Lightning. Kinkaid returns for a second stint with New Jersey after he spent parts of nine seasons with the club from 2011-12 to 2018-19. He earned 64 wins in 151 career games played with the Devils, which ranks him sixth all-time in franchise history. During the 2017-18 campaign, he posted a career-high 26 wins as the Devils clinched a playoff birth.
Kinkaid has appeared in 169 games throughout his career with the Devils, Bruins, Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers, compiling a 70-58-21 career record.
On the international stage, Kinkaid represented the United States at the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) 2016 World Championship, where he helped the U.S. capture a bronze medal. In nine games, he posted a 6-2-0 record to go with 2.29 goals against average (GAA) and a .912 save percentage.
