<p>The<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-york-rangers/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> New York Rangers</a> have acquired defenseman Carson Soucy from the <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vancouver Canucks</a> in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick.</p>

<p>Soucy was ranked sixth on <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/trade-targets-sources-carolina-hurricanes-have-multiple-compelling-offers-noncommittal-mikko-rantanen" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli”s most recent Trade Targets list</a>. Soucy recently found himself as a healthy scratch in Vancouver, with many expecting the Canucks to move on from the defensive blueliner after the team released a memo in February indicating that he was available.</p>



<p>Soucy is more known for his own-zone play, and with a cap hit of $3.25 million until 2025-26, he doesn’t cost a lot to keep the puck away from the net. Soucy had to waive his no-trade clause for the move to happen, with teams interested in his physicality and shot blocking, among other elements of his game. The 6-foot-5 blueliner is tough to play against, and while he’s not overly quick, he makes up for it with good positioning.</p><div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="154"></div>



<p>Soucy has three goals and 10 points in 59 games for Vancouver, far below his best of 21 set with the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/seattle-kraken/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seattle Kraken</a> in 2021-22. He finished his Canucks career with a goal in his final game on Wednesday night. In 349 regular-season games over seven seasons, he has 26 goals and 84 points.</p>



<p>The third-round pick that the Canucks acquired from the Rangers was the same 2025 pick that New York received from the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/vegas-golden-knights/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vegas Golden Knights</a> as part of the return for Reilly Smith earlier on Thursday, which originally belonged to the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/san-jose-sharks/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">San Jose Sharks</a>. With the Sharks likely to finish at the bottom of the standings this season, that basically makes the pick a late second-round selection.</p>



<p>With the trade, the Rangers make another altercation to their backend that has seen many players go in and out this season.
