<p>For the second consecutive time, the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-york-rangers/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">New York Rangers</a> have fired their head coach after just two seasons, this time with Peter Laviolette. The team had a disappointing season with a 39-36-7 record that wasn’t good enough to make the playoffs, and Laviolette appears to be the scapegoat. But who will be the replacement?</p>



<p>Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk talked about the Rangers head coach situation and what direction they may lean towards for a replacement on Daily Faceoff Live.</p>



<p><strong>Frank Seravalli:</strong> They probably are going to go more toward the veteran end. That’s just my guess, my hunch. I think that anyone who’s telling you what exactly Chris Drury’s thinking is making it up at this point in time.</p>



<p>I think the other interesting thing about the Rangers is let’s see what the coaching bingo card looks like later this week. Let’s see what happens with Rick Tocchet and the <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vancouver Canucks</a>, because I think he would be their number one target if he makes it to market. What happens with Mike Sullivan and the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/pittsburgh-penguins/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pittsburgh Penguins</a>? Is Kyle Dubas making his first coaching change with the Penguins? Does that make any sense? [Sullivan] was on the New York Rangers bench previously. <p>I think the Rangers are open to just about anything, and I think there’s still too much to be determined on what the full slate looks like, because we’ve mentioned now Vancouver and Pittsburgh, but what about the<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/seattle-kraken/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Seattle Kraken</a>? What about, pick any couple other teams? Are the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/buffalo-sabres/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Buffalo Sabres</a> not making any changes at all?</p>



<p>There’s a lot to still be determined when it comes to some offseason moves, we just got a little bit of a taste of it over the weekend.</p>



<p><strong>Tyler Yaremchuk:</strong> Yeah, and again, no rush obviously. It is April. You do not need a coach by the end of the month for anything crazy like that.</p>
