Bo Horvat Over 2.5 Shots on Goal: -120 Sports Interaction

The injury-plagued New York Islanders are heavy underdogs as they visit Canada Life Centre to take on the Winnipeg Jets, who hold an NHL-best 21-5-3 record on home ice this season.

As you would expect, the Jets do a better than average job of suppressing the opposition’s scoring chances. Still, this number looks pretty appealing considering Horvat’s recent shot volume and time-on-ice averages.

Horvat has put up six goals and 10 points over the last 10 games, and has been the pulse of a fairly limited Islanders attack. He’s averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game in that span, and should be a safe bet to get past that mark Friday in what will likely be a trailing game script.

Over the last 15 games, Horvat has averaged 3.20 shots on goal, and gone over 2.5 shots on goal 11 times.

The loss of Mathew Barzal due to injury could hurt Horvat’s shot volume to some extent, however, the Islanders’ current top line of Horvat, Anders Lee, and Anthony Duclair has played to a 52% goal share over the last two matchups, which came against high quality defensive sides in the Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights.

Filip Forsberg Anytime Goalscorer: +115 Sports Interaction

With a price of just +115 to score in Friday’s matchup versus the Chicago Blackhawks, Forsberg is considered the second-most likely player to score on the slate, next to the NHL’s leading goalscorer, Leon Draisaitl. Even still, a price of +115 looks pretty appealing considering Forsberg’s recent play and Chicago’s awful defensive play of late.

Over the last 15 games, the Blackhawks have allowed 36.71 shots against per 60, which is the worst mark in the NHL by a wide margin. Despite their goaltenders posting an above average .902 save percentage in that span, they have still allowed 3.53 goals against per game.

Forsberg has posted exceptional results versus the Blackhawks over the last two seasons, which is not overly surprising given how bad the Blackhawks have been overall. Forsberg has scored five goals over his last six matchups versus Chicago, and poured in a whopping total of 33 shots on goal.

When these teams last faced off on January 16th Forsberg generated nine shot attempts, and was able to break through with a critical game-tying goal late in the third. Since that matchup, Forsberg has continued to generate a ton of chances, as he has 4.17 expected goals over the last eight games.

Since the turn of the new year, Forsberg ranks fourth in the NHL with 10 goals, and has done so in just 14 games.

This looks like a good spot to ride one of the NHL’s hottest skaters to remain productive as he faces off against a team he has owned historically.
