<p>Familiar faces will be back with the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/boston-bruins/line-combinations">Boston Bruins</a> next season as <a href="https://x.com/frank_seravalli/status/1911872541745963408">Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli</a> reports that president of hockey operations Cam Neely and general manager Don Sweeney are expected to return for the coming campaign.</p>



<p>With the Bruins since May 2015, Sweeney is currently the NHL’s fourth-longest tenured GM, a span that has counted two Atlantic Division titles and an eight-year postseason run from 2016-24 that was underscored by a trip to Game 7 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final. The 2024-25 campaign marks just the second time the Bruins have not qualified for the postseason under Sweeney and the first since his initial year on the job.</p>



<p>Under Sweeney’s guidance, the Bruins have drafted and developed key players like defenseman Charlie McAvoy, chosen 14th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, and goaltender Jeremy Swayman, a 2017 fourth-round selection. <p>While the Bruins will not compete in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, much of the team’s core remains under contract long term, highlighted by 28-year-old right winger David Pastrnak who is signed through the 2030-31 campaign at an $11.25-million annual average value, per <a href="https://puckpedia.com/player/david-pastrnak">PuckPedia</a>. Through 81 games this season, Pastrnak has collected 42 goals and 62 assists, marking the third-straight season in which the Czech-born forward has reached triple-digit production.</p>



<p>On the season, the Bruins sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with a 33-39-3 showing, having won just five of 17 games since the NHL trade deadline when the club dealt captain Brad Marchand to the divisional rival <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/florida-panthers/line-combinations">Florida Panthers</a>, center Charlie Coyle to the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/colorado-avalanche/line-combinations">Colorado Avalanche</a>, center Trent Frederic to the <a href="https://oilersnation.com/">Edmonton Oilers</a>, and defenseman Brandon Carlo to the <a href="https://theleafsnation.com/">Toronto Maple Leafs</a>.</p><div class="injected-ad" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="1" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="136"></div>



<p>The Bruins will close out the 2024-25 regular season Tuesday against the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-jersey-devils/line-combinations">New Jersey Devils</a>. Entering Monday action, the team has <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/2025-nhl-draft-lottery-odds-which-teams-have-the-best-chance-to-select-matthew-schaefer-james-hagens-michael-misa-porter-martone">the fourth-best odds at 9.5 percent</a> to win the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery. The Bruins have not chosen in the top five of the NHL Draft since selecting Tyler Seguin second overall in 2010.</p>
