<p>New York has been one of the surprises in this Professional Women’s Hockey League season, and three of their players helped pick up a couple of big wins in Week 3.</p>



<p>Here’s a look at three players in deserve of some attention:</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-jade-downie-landry-f-new-york"><strong>Jade Downie-Landry (F, New York)</strong></h2>



<p>Capping off a fruitful week was one of the depth scorers coming alive for New York.</p>



<p>After only registering two assists in the first five games of the season, Jade Downie-Landry came up big in a game where her team was heavily outplayed. The 28-year-old opened the scoring on Sunday against Boston in the first period. After extending N.Y.’s lead to three early in the second, an empty-net goal from the Quebec native sealed a 4-1 win.</p>

<p>Downie-Landry has the potential to be a key asset for New York after leading the Montreal Force (PHF) in scoring last season. She quickly moved into a tie with teammate Alex Carpenter for fourth in the league in goals, keeping things interesting only.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-ella-shelton-d-new-york"><strong>Ella Shelton (D, New York)</strong></h2>



<p>One of the most consistent two-way defenders this season has been New York’s No. 1 blueliner.</p>



<p>Shelton made waves as the first player to score a goal in the PWHL, kickstarting her team in the historic win against Toronto on New Year’s Day. Since then, the Team Canada mainstay has been in the spotlight. </p>



<p>Last Sunday, Shelton picked up assists on all three of N.Y.’s goals against Minnesota, including earning the primary helper on Emma Woods’ overtime winner.</p>

<p>Shelton, who joins Carpenter as one of the players participating in the upcoming <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/nhl-pwhl-reveal-rosters-for-3-on-3-showcase-during-nhl-all-star-thursday">3-on-3 Showcase at NHL All-Star Thursday</a>, also picked up an apple on the power play against Montreal. Her three-game point streak was snapped in the win against Boston, but ended up with a +2.</p>



<p>Shelton had been leading the league in points before Carpenter’s big week. Through six games, the 26-year-old has two goals and five assists.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-corinne-schroeder-g-new-york"><strong>Corinne Schroeder (G, New York)</strong></h2>



<p>We have our first two-time goaltender of the week. While Ann-Renée Desbiens had a couple of good starts, it was hard to ignore how big Corrine Schroeder played this week.</p>



<p>The former Boston Pride star came up with 39 saves in New York’s win against Minnesota, handing the first-place team their first loss of the season. </p>

<p>Then, when her team was outshot by Boston 33-19, Schroeder was beaten just once on her way to her third win.</p>



<p>Schroeder is 3-1 on the season with a 1.72 goals-against average and .949 save percentage. She has had to make 30 saves in three of her four starts.</p>
