The PWHL announced on Tuesday it will hold a “PWHL Takeover Weekend” on March 16 and 17, playing three games in NHL venues in two days.

The PWHL’s Boston and Ottawa franchises will play at Little Caesars Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings, on March 16 at 6 p.m. EST.

The league’s Toronto and Montreal franchises will play at PPG Paints Arena, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, on March 17 at 12:30 p.m. EST.

Finally, New York and Minnesota will play at Xcel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild, on March 17 at 3:30 p.m. EST, but that is Minnesota’s regular home venue.

“Bringing these games to three outstanding venues during Women’s History Month will create an unforgettable highlight of this inaugural PWHL season,” said Jayna Hefford, PWHL senior vice president of hockey operations. “For fans attending these games and players who are competing on the ice, this will be a great celebration of the advancement and opportunity for women and hockey everywhere.”

Ryan Gustafson, executive vice president and COO of Illitch Sports + Entertainment, said the Red Wings and Little Caesars Arena are thrilled to partner with the PWHL.

“It’s been exciting to see the early success of the PWHL, and we’re honored for the opportunity to put on a great event for our fans and support growing the game of hockey for young women.”

Penguins President of Business Operations Kevin Acklin said his organization is committed to championing the growth of our game and that the team is excited to see the players “showcase their elite talents in front of our Penguins fan base.”

Tickets for Toronto-Montreal in Pittsburgh will be available Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. EST. Tickets for Ottawa-Boston in Detroit will go on sale Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. EST.

Toronto and Montreal will play against each other at Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs, on Feb. 16. Tickets for that game were sold out almost instantly and is expected to break records for the highest-attended game in professional women’s hockey history.
