While some teams in the NHL are rolling sevens, the Vegas Golden Knights are caught with snake eyes.

Following an abysmal 3-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, in which the team only mustered up 17 shots on goal, the Golden Knights have dropped four of their past five games.

While things haven’t been awful for the team from Sin City, picking up a total of four points during the recent spill, the teams Vegas has fallen to haven’t been world-beaters. Along with losing to Detroit – albeit on the second half of a back-to-back – the Golden Knights have lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime and the Buffalo Sabres in a shootout, two teams that are far out of playoff contention.

Yet, thanks to the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings not consistently stringing wins together, Vegas remains atop the Pacific Division. As of Monday, the Golden Knights have a four-point lead on the Oilers and five ahead of the Kings, though L.A. has two games in hand.

On Monday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Colby Cohen and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss whether there’s cause for concern for the Golden Knights’ recent slide.

Colby Cohen: You look at the results, and it’s the 3-2 overtime loss to Pittsburgh. It’s the 6-5 loss to L.A. Before that, they had a couple of decent wins against Toronto and New Jersey. I just want to say this about Vegas. I’m not worried. I do believe that we are now at the point where, once we hit game 70, and you’ve got those last 12 games where the big boys flip a switch…I just don’t feel a lot of concern. I know they’re well-coached in Vegas. The goaltender just gets the new six-year contract? Jack Eichel is going to continue to do things that very few players in the National Hockey League can do.

Right now, I just don’t feel a big sense of problems for the Vegas Golden Knights. You got to remember, they did get points in the Buffalo game, and they got points in the Pittsburgh loss as well. So, it’s not like they’re just going home empty-handed night in and night out.

Tyler Yaremchuk: As Frank [Seravalli] would say, “Milk, milk. Squirt, squirt. Just pick up points wherever you can kind of get them.” You look at their record in the last 10, 5-3-2, so 5-5 straight up, but there’s a glass-half-full view of that.
