<p><a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/detroit-red-wings/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Detroit Red Wings</a> head coach Todd McLellan <a href="https://x.com/HeleneStJames/status/1902757227594715503" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">has provided injury updates</a> on winger Elmer Soderblom and defensemen Erik Gustafsson and Jeff Petry.</p>



<p>Soderblom was announced as day-to-day after sustaining an injury during Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/washington-capitals/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Washington Capitals</a>. It’s unclear what caused the injury or what the injury even is, as the Red Wings have yet to disclose the nature of the injury at this time.</p>



<p>Soderblom has been a more-recent addition to the Red Wings lineup, only playing in 22 games this season after he was recalled from the AHL back in January. Since securing a spot on the NHL team, Soderblom has 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points in those 22 games.</p>



<p>Erik Gustafsson also sustained an injury during Tuesday’s loss, and while he has a similar day-to-day tag as Soderblom, that could change with Gustafsson still undergoing evaluations. <p>Gustafsson has had a disappointing first season with the Red Wings after signing a two-year contract with a $2 million cap hit in the summer. In 60 games, he has just 2 goals and 16 assists for 18 points.</p>



<p>McLellan also announced that Petry will be coming with the team on their three-game road trip out West, but will not be ready to play as soon as Saturday’s game against the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/vegas-golden-knights/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vegas Golden Knights</a>. Petry has missed the last 30 games after sustaining an undisclosed injury on January 2nd.</p>



<p>Like Gustafsson, Petry has also been a disappointment on the Red Wings blueline when he’s been healthy. In 34 games, he has just 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points.</p>



<p>The Red Wings currently sit in sixth in the Atlantic Division with a 32-30-6 record, which is three points behind the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/montreal-canadiens/line-combinations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Montreal Canadiens</a> for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
