The <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/seattle-kraken/line-combinations">Seattle Kraken</a> acquired center Frederick Gaudreau from the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/minnesota-wild/line-combinations">Minnesota Wild </a>on Thursday in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick.

Gaudreau has three years left on a five-year, $10.5 million contract with an annual average value (AAV) of $2.1 million he signed ahead of the 2023-24 regular season. 



The 32-year-old Gaudreau scored 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in 82 regular-season games with the Wild last season. In six playoff games, he was held scoreless. 



Through eight NHL seasons, Gaudreau, a native of Bromont, Que., has 61 goals and 91 assists for 152 points in 410 career regular-season games with the Wild, <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/pittsburgh-penguins/line-combinations">Pittsburgh Penguins</a> and the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/nashville-predators/line-combinations">Nashville Predators</a>. <div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="148"></div>



He’s also appeared in 32 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring eight goals and two assists for 10 points. 



Gaudreau has also played six seasons in the American Hockey League, scoring 78 goals and 98 assists for 176 points in 286 career regular-season games. 



An undrafted free agent, Gaudreau spent three seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League with the Shawinigan Cataractes and Drummondville Voltigeurs. During those three seasons, he scored 50 goals and 84 assists for 134 points in 195 career regular-season games. In 19 QMJHL playoff games, he scored 11 goals and four assists for 15 points. 



The Kraken finished the 2024-25 season with a 35-41-6 record with 76 points, seventh in the Pacific Division and failing to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight season. <div class="injected-ad" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="1" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="136"></div>



Meanwhile, the Wild recorded a 45-30-7 record and 97 points, fourth in the Central Division. They were eliminated by the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/vegas-golden-knights/line-combinations">Vegas Golden Knights</a> in the first round in six games.
