
Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf left Wednesday’s game against the Florida Panthers with an upper-body injury, with the team announcing on social media that he would not return to the game.

This season, the 30-year-old has five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 60 regular-season games. Now in his eighth NHL season, Kampf, a native of Chomutov, Czechia, has 48 goals and 95 assists for 143 points in 536 career NHL regular-season games.
Undrafted out of Czechia’s highest professional league, Kampf spent four seasons with the Chomutov Pirati, where he scored 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points in 141 career games.
The Maple Leafs won the game 3-2, and now sit at the top of the Atlantic Division with a 46-25-4 record and 96 points, three clear of the second-place Tampa Bay Lightning and four points clear of the third-place Panthers.
John Tavares scored his 36th goal of the season, the second-most goals he’s scored during his time with Toronto. Mitch Marner finished with a goal and an assist, giving him 24 goals and 69 assists on the season. Matthew Knies also scored, and he now has a career-high 26 goals to go along with 25 assists for 51 points in 2024-25.
Auston Matthews, who was named captain ahead of the season, assisted on Marner’s third-period goal, and he now has 40 assists on the season to go with his 29 goals for 69 points in 60 games.
Anthony Stolarz finished the game with 29 saves, earning first star honors. He now has a 16-8-3 record with a .920 save percentage (SV%) and 2.34 goals against average (GAA).
Toronto’s next game is Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
