<p>The <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/utah-mammoth/line-combinations">Utah Mammoth</a> will have to wait at least another couple of months for the season debut of one of their veteran leaders.</p>



<p>General Manager Bill Armstrong announced Friday that forward Alex Kerfoot will miss the next eight to ten weeks after undergoing a procedure to repair a core muscle injury.</p>

<p>Kerfoot was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury on October 6th, and as a result has yet to play for Utah this season. It’s unknown if the core muscle injury for which he had the procedure is related to the earlier lower-body injury.</p>



<p>The Vancouver native signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Utah this past offseason, after registering 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 81 games played last year.</p><div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="133"></div>



<p>The eight-year NHL veteran has carved out a solid career for himself. After getting drafted out of the BCHL by the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-jersey-devils/line-combinations">New Jersey Devils</a> in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Kerfoot went on to a successful college career playing for Harvard University, capped by a senior season in which he tallied 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points in 36 games played.</p>



<p>Having opted not to sign with New Jersey, Kerfoot became a college free agent in 2017 and agreed to a two-year, entry-level contract with the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/colorado-avalanche/line-combinations">Colorado Avalanche</a>. After two seasons in Colorado, Kerfoot was dealt to the <a href="https://theleafsnation.com/">Toronto Maple Leafs</a>, where he would spend four seasons, including a career-best 2021-22 campaign that saw him play all 82 games and put up 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points.</p><div class="injected-ad" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="1" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="136"></div>



<p>Kerfoot then signed with the Arizona Coyotes in 2023, which brought him to Utah a year later due to the franchise’s relocation.</p>



<p>The Mammoth, meanwhile, have had an exceptional start to the season, having won six of their first eight games. Utah will play the second game of a four-game road trip againt the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/minnesota-wild/line-combinations">Minnesota Wild</a> on Saturday.</p>
