Utah Hockey Club has emerged as a playoff threat this season due to the likes of Clayton Keller, Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley. The trio of young prospects has taken the team by storm.

Utah currently sits fifth in the central division with a 16-12-6 record and 38 points through 34 games this season.

Keller has notched 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points in 34 games and is well on his way to setting career highs.

Today on DAILY FACEOFF LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss Utah’s performance this season.

Tyler Yaremchuk: We talked about weekend warriors and I went with Clayton Keller out of Utah. We’re looking at a guy who can put up 90+ points here this season, who knows what the ceiling is for the 26-year-old. Listen, he was always good in Arizona, he has a 76 point season and an 86 point year. But again Utah has a star in Keller, they have a star in him and then you mention Logan Cooley. That core, like if you were to buy stock or take over any team in the league, Utah is in a spot where their future is very bright.

Frank Seravalli: If there was one team that’s outside the playoffs today, this was the question I framed on DFO Rundown, that could make moves and get over the top which team would you pick to win as your starting baseline?  For me it was Utah. I just think contract wise, cap wise, prospect wise. They can’t even possibly sign all the guys they have in their system. The toughest exercise for them next is picking which ones to sign and which ones to let go, which is difficult in its own right. But they’ve got a great group of core stars who are young and who are growing into superstar potential. They’ve done the right stuff this year to where they are in a playoff spot due to points parentage at Christmas without two of their top four defensemen. This team is one of the best stories of the year.
