<p>The <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/washington-capitals/line-combinations">Washington Capitals </a>have announced that Pierre-Luc Dubois has undergone surgery and is expected to miss 3-4 months. </p>



<p>According to the team, Dubois underwent the surgery on Friday to “address injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles.”</p>



<p>Dubois last played against the<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/new-york-islanders/line-combinations"> New York Islanders</a> on Oct. 31, but was forced to leave late in the first period of the game following a faceoff play. After the puck was dropped, Islanders center Jean-Gabriel Pageau cross-checked Dubois in his right leg, with that also pushing Dubois’ left leg onto the ice in an awkward way. Dubois appeared to be in discomfort immediately after the play, and needed help off the ice returning to the bench.</p>



<p>Dubois missed five games earlier in the season with a lower-body injury, and needed a stint on injured reserve before returning.</p><div class="injected-ad injected-video" data-nn-ad-tech-injection-count="0" data-nn-ad-tech-max-gap="130" data-nn-ad-tech-current-gap="136"></div>



<p>The 27-year-old is coming off of a career year which saw him put up 20 goals, 46 assists and 66 points in 82 games with the Capitals. His previous best before that was 63 points in 2022-23, his last season with the Winnipeg Jets. Drafted third overall in 2016 by the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/columbus-blue-jackets/line-combinations">Columbus Blue Jackets</a>, Dubois has 165 goals and 408 points in 604 career games over nine seasons.</p>



<p>With Dubois injured, look for Justin Sourdif to get more ice time as Washington’s third-line center. The Capitals have dealt with various injuries throughout the season, but are not out of the playoff picture by any means.</p>



<p>Washington sits seventh in the Metropolitan Division with a 7-7-1 record over 15 games. The team has 15 points, which is just two ahead of the Blue Jackets. <p>The Capitals are back on the ice for three games this week, starting with Tuesday’s meeting with the Carolina Hurricanes. They’ll then take on Florida on Thursday before wrapping up against New Jersey on Saturday.</p>
