Hill woke up on Monday sore with a recurrence of his lower-body injury that forced him to miss an extended period of time. Hill stopped all 29 shots that he faced in a shutout win over the Kings on Saturday.
Hill will not be available for Wednesday's game in Washington, so James Reimer will start and Zach Sawchenko will serve as the backup. Hill should be considered questionable heading into the Sharks' back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday.
With Hill going into protocol, Zach Sawchenko has been recalled from the AHL and will serve as James Reimer's backup on Tuesday.
