Martinez was on the ice for Monday's practice but will not return to the lineup on Tuesday. The Golden Knights could have used him, with Zach Whitecloud out and Nic Hague as a game-time decision.
Martinez will miss his second straight game on Tuesday but his status beyond then has not been determined. Monitor his status leading up to Thursday's game vs. the Red Wings.
Martinez fell awkwardly during Wednesday's loss to the Blues and did not return. Martinez was held off of the ice on Thursday and Friday and will not play vs. the Oilers. With Martinez unavailable, Nicolas Hague is expected to skate with Alex Pietrangelo.
Martinez has been out since November 25th but will draw in for the suspended Kurtis MacDermid on Saturday. Martinez has five assists in 24 games this season.
Martinez sustained a laceration to his right wrist on Monday night and underwent successful surgery to repair a radial artery and two superficial radial nerves. Martinez will likely miss at least a couple of weeks and will be re-evaluated after that.
Martinez has missed the last eight games but was back on the ice for Monday’s practice and has a chance to play on Tuesday. Martinez has four goals and 11 assists (15 points) in 43 games this season.
There is no word on when Martinez suffered the injury but is expected to miss at least a week with an upper-body issue. The Kings have recalled Matt Roy from Ontario (AHL) and he will replace Martinez on Saturday.
