Martinez has been out since November 25th but will draw in for the suspended Kurtis MacDermid on Saturday. Martinez has five assists in 24 games this season.

Martinez sustained a laceration to his right wrist on Monday night and underwent successful surgery to repair a radial artery and two superficial radial nerves. Martinez will likely miss at least a couple of weeks and will be re-evaluated after that.

Martinez has missed the last eight games but was back on the ice for Monday’s practice and has a chance to play on Tuesday. Martinez has four goals and 11 assists (15 points) in 43 games this season.

There is no word on when Martinez suffered the injury but is expected to miss at least a week with an upper-body issue. The Kings have recalled Matt Roy from Ontario (AHL) and he will replace Martinez on Saturday.

Martinez has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury and his move to IR opens up a roster spot for the Kings to recall Daniel Brickley from Ontario (AHL).

Martinez was banged up in the Kings game against the Golden Knights on Saturday and will not be in the lineup on Monday. Martinez could always join the team on the trip but for now expect him to miss at least the next four games. Paul LaDue will like draw into the lineup and replace him in Detroit.

Martinez missed Saturday’s game vs. the Coyotes and will be a game-time decision tonight vs. the Oilers. However, Martinez stayed on for extra work at the morning skate, which suggests that he will miss his second straight game.

Martinez will miss the Kings’ season opener with a lower-body injury, but it’s not considered serious. Martinez’s move to IR is retroactive to October 3rd, so he can come off after their second game and play next Wednesday vs. Calgary if he is healthy. In a corresponding move, the Kings have recalled Paul LaDue from Ontario (AHL).

Martinez was not on the ice for the Kings morning skate on Monday. He is listed as day-to-day and will be replaced by Jamie McBain in the lineup this evening.

Martinez was playing in his first game since February 7th. He skated on the third pair with Matt Greene and played on the second power-play unit. He registered three shots in 16:23—before getting hurt he had 17 points (5G / 12A) in 46 games.

Martinez has been out since February 7th because of concussion-like symptoms. His return to practice is a good sign that Martine is nearing a return to the lineup. Monitor his status next week.

After tonight’s game, the Kings return home to take on the Flames on Thursday, so with Martinez not playing it made sense to send him home and let him rest. He is day-to-day with concussion-like symptoms.

Martinez was crunched by Cedric Paquette on Saturday. Coach Sutter said the Kings have to be “careful and cautious” which would dictate that Martinez will not be in the lineup on Monday vs. the Blue Jackets. With Martinez likely out, expect Brayden McNabb to be back in the lineup.

Martinez was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season (per NHLNumbers). He is now signed through the 2020-21 season and will have a $4 million cap-hit. Martinez has seven points (2G / 5A) in 18 games this season, but just returned to the lineup last night after missing seven games with a finger injury.
