The Flyers have signed Alex Lyon to a one-year, $700k contract extension.

Lyon spent most of 2020 in the AHL going 11-14-5 with a 2.69 GAA and .913 SV%. With Brian Elliott set to become a UFA, it looks like the Flyers plan to have Lyon as Carter Hart's backup in 2021. The 27-year-old is 5-4-1 with a 3.15 GAA and .893 SV% in 16 career NHL games.

The Flyers have sent Alex Lyon to Lehigh Valley (AHL).

With Carter Hart ready to return to the Flyers net on Monday, Lyon returns to the AHL, where he has gone 9-13-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .916 SV% this season. During his time with Philly, the 27-year-old was 1-1-0 while allowing eight goals on 73 shots (.890 SV%).

Lyon will start Saturday vs. the Avalanche.

Lyon surrendered four goals on 40 shots in the Flyers loss to the Canadiens on January 16th. Lyon was busy in his season debut and is now 4-4-1 with a 3.14 GAA and .894 SV% in his NHL career. In his second start of the year, he'll face a Colorado team that went 5-2-2 with 3.89 goals per game in January.

Lyon will start Thursday vs. the Canadiens.

Tonight will be Lyon's first NHL game in over a year. He has gone 9-11-2 with a 2.56 GAA and .916 SV% in 23 AHL games this season but is 4-3-1 with a 3.05 GAA and .894 SV% in 13 career NHL starts. Even with a decent matchup, Lyon is a risky option as he's set to go toe-to-toe with Carey Price.

The Flyers have recalled Alex Lyon from Lehigh Valley (AHL).

Lyon will serve as Brian Elliott's backup for at least two weeks because Carter Hart is out with an abdominal strain. The 27-year-old, who has 13 games of NHL experience, has gone 9-11-2 with a 2.56 GAA and .916 SV% in 23 AHL games this season.
