Nylander has 25 goals and 25 assists with a +8 plus/minus through 54 games played with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) and has been recalled on an emergency basis to Pittsburgh Tuesday. The 25-year-old has played in 84 career NHL games prior to this season, with 13 goals, 19 assists, and a -11 plus/minus.

Nylander was the No.8 overall pick in 2016 but was traded to Chicago in 2019 and has spent all of 2022 with Rockford (AHL). Nylander who has 32 points (13G / 19A) in 84 career NHL games, has tallied 12 points (8G / 4A) in 23 AHL games this season. It's unclear whether or not he will report to the Penguins or the AHL.

Nylander could be in danger of missing all of the 2021 season after undergoing surgery on Monday, which is part of the reason why the Blackhawks went out and signed veteran Carl Soderberg on Saturday. The 22-year-old Nylander struggled in his first season in Chicago, collecting just 26 points (10G / 16A) in 65 games. His injury opens the door for a lot of competition in the Blackhawks' training camp next week.

Nylander has a cut on his leg that requires stitches so he will not be available for tonight’s game vs. the Senators. Scott Wilson is expected to draw into the lineup to replace him.

Nylander has picked up seven goals and 19 assists (26 points) in 48 games this season and is expected to make his season debut in the final week of the season.
