Burakovsky was sent down yesterday in order for the Capitals to recall Philipp Grubauer, who was given the start last night. Burakovsky should be back in the Capitals lineup on Sunday vs. Philadelphia.
It seems like the Capitals really wanted to start Philipp Grubauer tonight vs. the Ducks. They recalled him this morning and sent Burakovsky down to make room for him. The call-up is not expected to be long-term, so expect Burakovsky back soon.
Burakovsky, who served as a healthy scratch during the Winter Classic and has only played in two of the last eight games, skated on the top-line in practice on Saturday morning. It looks like he will go from the doghouse to the penthouse. He has 13 points (4G / 9A) in 28 games this season.
Burakovsky will play in his first game since December 13th. He went down to Hershey for a brief conditioning stint, but will return to the Capitals lineup tonight.
Burakovsky, 19, did not record a point and was a minus-1 in two games with Hershey over the weekend. He was not playing with the Capitals, so they sent him back to get a few games in. Now that he is back, he could be in the lineup tonight vs. the Senators. He recorded 12 points (3G / 9A) in his first 15 games, but has just one goal in his last 11 games.
Burakovsky has served as a healthy scratch in five of the last six games. He had a hot start to the season and is an ultra talented player who likely won’t be in the minors for long.
Burakovsky has served as a healthy scratch for the last three games, but will be back in tomorrow. Coach Trotz had been platooning he and Evgeny Kuznetsov, so there is a good chance that it will be Kuznetsov who comes out, but if not, he could draw in on the fourth line for Michael Latta.
