Tonight he will face the 1-1-0 Coyotes, but with how depleted the Oilers roster is right now, Scrivens is a risky start--especially on the back-to-back.

After being traded to the Oilers last season, Scrivens went 9-11-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .916 SV%. To no one's surprise, life in Edmonton is much more difficult than in Los Angeles and he sits without a Stanley Cup ring on his finger. Now with Edmonton for a full season, he will start the first game of the year against a Flames team that he had a .857 SV% against last year.

Scrivens allowed four goals on 50 shots in a loss to his former team on Sunday. The Kings are on fire right now, so it was not a surprise to see them unload on Scrivens, but he stood tall. He will get back in goal and Sunday was likely a good warmup for a very difficult test tonight in St. Louis. On a busy Thursday night take a look at your other options.

The two Edmonton netminders are expected to push each other for starts, but as of now it looks like Scrivens is slightly ahead of Fasth.

Fresh off of a two-year contract extension, Scrivens will get the nod tonight vs. the Senators. He allowed three goals on 21 shots in a loss to the Wild last Thursday. Scrivens is 3-4-0 with a 2.15 GAA and .940 SV% in seven starts since coming to the Oilers.

The Oilers acquired Scrivens from the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 15 for a third-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. Since coming to Edmonton, Scrivens has posted a 3-4-0 record with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013-14 season.
