Brian Boyle News
Boyle, Dorsett in; Kreider, Newbury out. Clowe, Staal remain sidelined. Per warmup.

Boyle (leg) missed the last six games of the regular season and Game 1 but will return to the lineup this afternoon. He had two goals, three assists and was a minus-13 in 38 games this season.

Brian Boyle---who was forced out of Tuesday night's game against the Flyers due to an unspecified injury---was unable to practice Wednesday. The Rangers had no update on Boyle's condition.

Boyle said that he planned to meet with doctors on Wednesday to determine the nature of his injury, which seemed to be to his right leg and took place in the first period of Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Flyers. As a precaution to Boyle possibly missing Thursday's game with Florida, the Rangers recalled Chris Kreider from the Connecticut Whale.

“I was pretty scared with the way it happened, it’s the same one that’s been bugging me,” Boyle said. “It loosened up. It’ll probably be pretty sore tomorrow. It’s a perfect time for a break.”

Boyle played under 12 minutes last night due to an injury. The towering center has three goals and 11 points through 48 games.

Although its only one night, and a pre-season game at that, I just don’t get the feeling that using Boyle on the left wing of the top line would work out to the team’s advantage.

Coach Tortorella prefers to use Boyle as the team's third line center. Last season, the hulking center scored 21 goals and 35 points in his breakout campaign. His production could be a fantasy mirage but he was quite relevant last season.

Boyle probably gets a look on that line before returning to centering Brandon Prust and Ruslan Fedotenko on the third line. Last season, the hulking center scored 21 goals and 35 points in his breakout campaign. His production could be a fantasy mirage but he was quite relevant last season.
