Orpik was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was alert and conscious. He was scheduled to accompany teammates on a return flight to Pittsburgh, coach Dan Bylsma said. “I think he was out (unconscious) on the ice for a period of time, and I think that means he's got a concussion,” Bylsma said, adding that Orpik underwent a battery of tests and will be re-evaluated in Pittsburgh. Orpik, per club policy on injured players, was not available for comment.
Orpik missed the last two games of the regular season and the first three games of the playoffs because of a lower-body injury. He could return for Game 4.

Sounds like Orpik will make his season debut tonight. With the team already missing Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and several others, adding their top defensive leader certainly helps their standing.
Don't expect to see any of these four players in the lineup over the next two road games. Through the team's first six games, they boast a league-best eight points.
Doesn't sound like Orpik is too close to returning to the lineup. With Deryk Engelland taking his place on the top pairing, the Pens sit on top of the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-0-1 record.
With Orpik out, Deryk Engelland stays on the top defensive pairing. Expect him to remain day-to-day with a return in the horizon.
When he returns, expect the veteran to man the top defensive pairing. Orpik's health should lead to keeping the puck away from Marc-Andre Fleury. Good to know whether he is in the lineup or not since his 9 career goals in 512 career games won't help your squad too much.

Sounds like the team prefers not to rush Orpik back into the lineup but the rugged defender is not far off returning. If he can't make the team, look for Alexandre Picard and Ben Lovejoy to take his place on the blue line.
Nothing really new to report on either front except that neither are making strides on the ice.
