Primeau will make his first start of 2024 on Wednesday when the Canadiens visit the Philadelphia Flyers. In his last outing, Primeau allowed four goals on 30 shots (.867 SV%) in a 5-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Flyers have struggled lately, losing five of their last six (1-3-2) and are coming off a one-side 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

Primeau played well in the Canadiens' final game before the Christmas break, saving 19 of 21 shots (.905 SV%) in a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, and will play in their first game back from the break on Thursday. Primeau has won three of his last four contests (3-1-0), allowing two goals or fewer in three, posting a .916 SV%, but will be hard-pressed to continue his strong play in an unfavourable matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes played last night, a commanding 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators, but are still sizeable -253 home favourites against the Canadiens.

Primeau will start for only the second time this month and the first time since December 9th, a sensational performance where he saved 46 of 48 shots (.958 SV%) in a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Despite seeing very limited action between the pipes, Primeau has played pretty well when called upon, allowing nine goals across his last three starts, boasting a .918 SV%. That said, the Canadiens had to travel last night after a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild and are +104 road underdogs against a Chicago Blackhawks team that surprisingly ended a four-game losing skid with a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.

Primeau has roughly started every third or fourth game for the Canadiens over the last month and will continue that trend on Saturday when the Canadiens visit the Buffalo Sabres. Primeau last played on November 30th, allowing five goals on 29 shots (.828 SV%) in a 5-1 loss to the Florida Panthers. The Canadiens have lost three of their last four (1-3-0) but defeated the Sabres in their only matchup this season, a 3-1 victory on October 23rd with Jake Allen between the pipes.

Primeau will start on Thursday for the Canadiens, the back end of a back-to-back, after Samuel Montembeault got the nod on Wednesday. Primeau played exceptionally in his most recent contest, saving 31 of 33 shots (.939 SV%) in a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks, but will be facing a significantly more challenging opponent in the Florida Panthers on Thursday. The Panthers rank in the bottom third of the league offensively (2.91 GF / GP) but will still be heavy road favourites against a Canadiens team that played and travelled the previous night.

Primeau will start for the fourth time this season and the first time since allowing six goals on 42 shots (.857 SV%) in a 6-5 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on November 16th. Primeau has had mixed results this season, posting a 3.97 GAA and .885 SV% through three games (1-2-0), but will get an opportunity to shine Friday afternoon against the low-scoring San Jose Sharks. The Sharks have scored one goal or fewer in 13 of their 19 games this season, ranking 32nd in the league offensively, scoring only 1.47 goals per game.

Primaeu will start his second game of the season when the Canadiens take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. On November 9th against the Detroit Red Wings, Primeau put together a terrific effort for his first victory, saving 27 of 29 shots (.931 SV%). Despite being serviceable in limited action this season, optimism is low for Primeau and the Canadiens on Thursday as they are +172 home underdogs against the defending Stanely Cup Champion Golden Knights. That said, Vegas has lost three of their last four games (1-3-0), held to two goals or fewer in three of them.

Primeau will start for the second time this season, his first game action since October 24th, a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils, where he allowed four goals on 33 shots (.879 SV%). The Canadiens have held three goalies for the majority of the season but have mostly opted for the duties of Samuel Montembault and Jake Allen. Primeau and the Canadiens are +153 road underdogs on Thursday against a Detroit Red Wings team that has lost five of their last seven (2-4-1).

Primeau has yet to appear in any of the Canadiens five games to start the season but will take the crease Tuesday at home vs. New Jersey. The 24-year-old was 0-2-0 with a .852 SV% and a 3.46 GAA in three games played in 2022-23 with Montreal. He draws the tough task of the New Jersey Devils, who won their last game 5-4 in overtime over NYI and are eighth in the NHL in goals for (3.75).

Primeau allowed five goals on 21 shots against the Red Wings on Tuesday. Primeau returns to the AHL, where he's gone 16-15-6 with a 3.12 GAA and .905 SV%.

Primeau stopped 24 of 26 shots (.923 SV%) for his first defeat of the season as he was handed the loss vs. Philadelphia in his previous start. The 23-year-old is only playing in his third game of the season with the Canadiens Monday, posting a 0-1-0 record, with a 2.28 GAA and .909 SV% so far. He takes on the Detroit Red Wings, who have won three of their last four games and are 22nd in the NHL in goals per game (2.93).

Primeau was 14-14-6, with a 3.13 GAA and .906 SV% with the Laval Rocket (AHL) and will make his first start of the 2022-23 season Tuesday vs. Philadelphia. The 23-year-old has previously played in 19 career NHL games played, recording an ugly 3-10-2 record, with a .857 SV% and 3.00 GAA. He will face the Philadelphia Flyers, who have won three-straight games but are 30th in the NHL in goals per game (2.68).

Primeau saw one period of action with the Canadiens stopping six of seven shots (.857 SV%) before being sent back down to Laval (AHL) on Wednesday. The 23-year-old heads back to the AHL where he struggled prior to his promotion, with a 4-6-3 record, 3.65 GAA and .890 SV%.

Jake Allen was announced day-to-day with an upper-body injury so Cayden Primeau has been recalled from the Laval Rockets (AHL) for the first time this season. The 23-year-old has struggled with Laval this season, with his 4-6-3 record, .890 SV% and 3.65 GAA but will back up Samuel Montembeault for Monday's game.

Primeau will serve as Sam Montembeault's backup on Monday with Jake Allen (parental leave) unavailable. Primeau allowed six goals and 38 shots in his season debut with Laval.
