Tanev missed the second-half of the third period on Wednesday and is questionable to play Thursday in Arizona. If Tanev and Alex Edler are both unavailable against the Coyotes, the Canucks will need to call-up a defenseman from Utica (AHL).

Tanev has missed a lot of time due to injuries this season but provides a big boost to the Canucks blueline when he’s in. However, he doesn’t boast the best offensive numbers, having scoring just two goals with four assist in 27 games this season.

Tanev suffered a thumb injury in Calgary on Wednesday and is expected to miss at least 14 days as a result, but avoided surgery and a much longer timetable. Luckily for the Canucks they got Alex Edler back on the blueline last night.
