Craig Anderson News
Anderson will start Thursday for the Senators.

Anderson held Chicago to two goals on 45 shots in a 2-1 loss on Sunday. Despite the loss, it was a great game for Anderson who has posted a .944 SV% through his firs four starts. He will get another crack at the Blackhawks tonight. Traditionally this would be a bad matchup, but Chicago is struggling to score goals to start the season---just 2.33 G/PG (25th in the NHL).

Anderson allowed three goals on 37 shots in Ottawa's 3-2 loss to the Predators on opening night. He sat against the Lightning, but gets back in goal with a nice matchup today vs. Florida. The Panthers have struggled to keep the puck out of the net in the early part of the season, so Anderson has a good chance to chalk up his first W of the year.

After a great lockout shortened season, Anderson stumbled to 25 wins with a 3.00 GAA and .911 SV% in 2013-14. He started 2014-15 on a strong note posting a 1.91 GAA and .922 SV% in the preseason. He will start his regular season against the Predators, who he had a 2.20 / and .935 against in two starts last season.

The Senators signed Craig Anderson to a three-year contract extension worth $12.6 million.

A season after posting an NHL-best .941 SV%, Anderson struggled to a 25-16-8 record with a 3.00 GAA and .911 SV%. Just weeks after the Sens signed Robin Lehner to a three-year extension, they locked up the other half of their goaltending duo through 2017-18. Anderson will start the season as the number-1 and will be looking for a bounce back season; but the team in front of him is looking like a basement dweller.

Anderson will start on Saturday vs. Toronto.

Anderson made 45 saves on 46 shots in a 4-1 win over the Islanders on Tuesday. It was a great performance from the 32-year-old, who has had a very inconsistent season. This could be his last start of the season and he enters play at 24-16-8 with a 3.06 GAA and .909 SV% on the year. This comes after he had a 1.69 GAA and .941 SV% last season.

Anderson gets the nod on Tuesday.

Anderson surrendered seven goals on 23 shots in a 7-4 loss to the Canadiens on Friday. The Habs spotted the Sens a three goal lead in the first period, but fired back with seven unanswered goals. On Tuesday, he draws a good matchup vs. the Isles in a "meaningless" contest for both teams.

Anderson allowed two goals on 27 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Islanders on Wednesday. Anderson has been rock-solid in goal since returning from an undisclosed injury. Anderson allowed one goal on 31 shots in a shootout win over the Hurricanes on Monday. He has won each of his last two starts while allowing just four goals on 80 shots (.950 SV%). Tonight, he will start vs. the Islanders; a matchup that makes him a strong fantasy start.

Anderson return to the Senators cage on Friday.

Anderson missed the last seven games with and undisclosed injury, but will be back in goal for the Sens tonight vs. the Blackhawks. In five starts after the Olympic break before he was injured, Anderson went 2-2-1 with a 3.17 GAA and .910 SV%. With Chicago in town, it won't be an easy return.

Craig Anderson
Anderson (undisclosed) says he is ready to return Friday.

Anderson said he is ready to go if he is called upon, but with Robin Lehner leaving pracitce early with an apparent injury, one would think that Anderson will make his return to the crease after backing up the last two games. He has not played since getting hurt on March 10th, and would draw an awful matchup with the Blackhawks in town.
