Despite a strong start from Mike Smith in their last game, Rittich has clearly taken over as the Flames No.1 netminder. The Stars come in on the tail-end of a back-to-back having lost four of their last five games (1-3-1).

Rittich allowed three goals on 40 shots in the Flames win over the Jets on Wednesday. Rittich continues to play very well, winning six in a row while allowing just 11 goals on 153 shots (.928 SV%). Even more impressive is the fact that Rittich is 4-1-0 with a 1.32 GAA and .959 SV% on the road this season.

The win extended Rittich’s winning streak to five games, stopping 105 of 113 shots (.929 SV%) with one shutout over that span. Rittich has impressed the season, but has difficult matchup tonight with the Jets in town.

It was another strong outing for Rittich, who has now recorded wins in four straight games while allowing just six goals on 91 shots (.934 SV%). Rittich seems to have taken over the No.1 job in Calgary for the time being and will see a Vegas team on the tail-end of a back-to-back tonight.

Rittich has played exceptionally well this season, stopping 76 of the 79 shots (.962 SV%) that he has faced in two starts and one relief appearance. Rittich is outplaying Mike Smith early-on, so he’ll make his second straight start tonight in Montreal—a matchup that offers some spot-start value.
