Sparks will start Thursday against the Sharks.

With James Reimer still out and Jonathan Bernier still struggling, Sparks will get the nod today vs. the Sharks. It’s a good matchup with the Sharks coming in losers of six of their last seven.

Sparks now holds a 2-1-0 record, 2.34 GAA and .920 SV% in his first three NHL games. Tonight he faces a New Jersey team that is 4-4-2 in their last 10 and 19th in the NHL in scoring.

With James Reimer out with an injury, it will be Sparks again tonight. Tonight he will start against a Blues team that has been struggling—St. Louis has lost three of four while averaging just 2.00 goals per game.

Sparks stopped all 24 shots that he faced in the Maple Leafs 2-0 win over the Oilers on Monday. Sparks became the first goalie in Maple Leafs’ history to post a shutout in his NHL debut and will get a second straight start tonight because of it. He had great AHL numbers, so Monday wasn’t a fluke, he should make for a solid start tonight vs. a Jets team that has lost three of their last four.

Sparks, 22, was the 190th overall pick in 2011, but has transformed himself into a top goalie prospect this season. Through 11 games with the Marlies, he has gone 8-2-1 with a 1.90 GAA and .938 SV%. With James Reimer out and Jonathan Bernier borderline unplayable, Sparks will make his NHL debut tonight vs. the Oilers.
