

Mitchell played in the Blackhawks season opener but was scratched in after they signed Erik Gustafsson to a one-year deal. Mitchell will get playing time in Rockford, where he had one assist in five games last season.

Mitchell had an assist in 8:23 TOI in the season opener but will come out of the lineup for Game 2. Erik Gustafsson will draw into the lineup to replace him.




Mitchell, who was a healthy scratch for the last two games, will replace Nicolas Beaudin in the lineup on Saturday. Mitchell has four points (2G / 2A), 19 shots and a minus-6 rating in 26 games this season.

Chicago selected Mitchell in the second-round (No. 57 overall) in 2017 and he finished his junior season at the University of Denver with 32 points (10G / 22A) in 36 games. The 21-year-old defenseman was a part of Team Canada's World Junior team in 2019, scoring one goal with two assists in five games.
