Demers has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury, but is ready to go in Minnesota. Demers has had a solid season, posting numbers similar to what he had with the Stars and Panthers. The 29-year-old is also playing a career-high 21:46 TOI/GM in his first year with the Coyotes.
Demers was hurt last Thursday vs. the Blue Jackets and lands on IR so he won’t play on Thursday. Kyle Capobianco has been recalled from Tucson (AHL) to take his spot on the roster.
Demers left last Thursday’s game vs. the Blue Jackets with an upper-body injury and is listed as day-to-day. Demers will be re-evaluated as the week progresses and is questionable for Thursday’s game vs. Dallas.
After just one season in Florida, Demers is on the move to his third team in three years after being traded to the Coyotes on Sunday. Arizona was in need of a right-shot defenseman and they have found their man in the 29-year-old Demers. The Canadian-born blueliner is coming off of a season in which he collected a career-high nine goals with 19 assists (28 points) in 81 contests for Florida. With Jakob Chychrun to miss a lot of this season, Demers will slide right into a top-4 role, likely alongside Alex Goligoski.
Demers was acquired mid-season in 2014-15, so 2015-16 was his first full season with the Stars. He missed 20 games, but still picked up 23 points (7G / 16A) in 62 games. He is a solid two-way defenseman who solidifies the Panthers’ second pairing and should look good as the third best defenseman on the team behind Aaron Ekblad and Keith Yandle.
Demers left Tuesday’s game after playing just 11:01 TOI and could miss the remainder of the regular season. The Stars are now down to five healthy defensemen on the roster with John Klingberg also day-to-day. Expect them to make a call-up prior to Friday’s game vs. the Blackhawks.
Demers missed Thursday’s game in Chicago with an illness, but is expected to play tonight vs. Washington. Demers has 19 points (7G / 12A) in 48 games this season.
Demers missed Tuesday’s game against Ottawa but will be back in the lineup tonight vs. Vancouver. Demers comes in with 10 points (4G / 6A) and a plus-6 rating in 19 games this season.
Demers was injured in Saturday’s game vs. the Sabres, but is expected to play on Tuesday. Demers has been solid for the Stars this season, posting 10 points (4G / 6A) in 19 games. Monitor his status in the Stars’ morning skate.
Demers was a game-time decision and was a late scratch because of an illness that forced him out of the morning skate. Consider him day-to-day and monitor his status leading up to Thursday’s game in Carolina.
Demers was acquired from the Sharks on Friday and he skated on the Stars’ second pair with Trevor Daley. “He’s a good puck-moving guy, a right-handed shot,” said Daley. “He’s a guy that can jump in to be in your top four and eat up a lot of minutes.” Daley will also man the point with Alex Goligoski on the Stars second power-play unit.
Demers, 26, has three assists and a minus-6 rating in 20 games with the Sharks. Demers addresses the Stars need for a right-handed D-man. He is just two of seven blueliners on the Stars' squad that is a righty. He is a better puck moving defenseman than Dillon, but obviously is not nearly as big.
Demers missed Saturday's game with what the Sharks called a 'minor health issue'. He will likely replace Matt Irwin and be paired with Scott Hannan.
The deal means that both sides will avoid an arbitration hearing for the 26-year-old blueliner, who was a restricted free agent. Last season, Demers had a career-high 34 points (5G / 29A) in 75 games. Demers was fourth amongst Sharks D-men in power-play time per game and with Dan Boyle new in New York, Demers should move up one spot in the pecking order.
Demers remained at the team hotel on Saturday afternoon, as the Sharks will try and isolate him from the rest of the group to try and avoid a bug going through the team with just six games remaining. Demers will fly back to San Jose with the Sharks after the Avalanche game. In 69 games, Demers has four goals and 28 assists for 32 points. He is the team’s leading scorer among defensemen. Scott Hannan, who was scratched against the Jets on Thursday, will return to the lineup.
Demers has missed the last three games with a groin injury that was bothering him even before he came out after the Sharks’ loss in Calgary on January 30. “All signs point to yes,” said Demers, when asked if he was good to go, following the morning skate. Matt Irwin looks to be the odd-man out on the blue line.
Head coach Todd McLellan would not get into much detail about Demers’ injury, other than to say he hurt it skating and it’s not an ankle or a knee. Demers is listed as day-to-day.
