Spezza will not play Tuesday because of a back injury.

Spezza’s difficult 2018 season continues as he will miss tonight’s game in Washington with a back injury. Spezza, who has recorded just seven goals and 18 assists (25 points) in 72 games this season, is expected to be replaced by Curtis McKenzie.

Spezza will be back in the Stars lineup on Tuesday after being a healthy scratch on Monday.

Spezza was a healthy scratch in Boston on Monday afternoon but the Stars apparently have some players who are nicked up coming into the tail-end of their back-to-back, so Spezza will draw back into the lineup tonight. Spezza is currently riding a 14-game goalless drought.

Spezza (back spasms) is doubtful for Monday's game.

Spezza left Friday’s game in Calgary did not return and was not on the ice this morning so Spezza has been listed as doubtful for tonight’s contest vs. San Jose. He will be replaced by Jamie Benn, who returns after missing one game with an eye injury.

Spezza (lower-body) will be back in the Stars lineup on Tuesday.

Spezza has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury, but will play Tuesday vs. the Devils. The Stars are slowly starting to get healthy and Spezza’s return is huge at 5-on-5 and for the power-play. Spezza comes into tonight with four goals and one assist in nine games.

Spezza (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Spezza left Monday’s practice with an injury and did not take part in the Stars’ morning skate on Tuesday, so all signs are pointing towards Spezza not play vs. the Jets. Head coach Lindy Ruff said that Spezza’s status for tonight’s game is “still a decision that we have to make,” so consider him a game-time decision.

Spezza (undisclosed) left Monday’s practice; questionable for Tuesday’s game.

Spezza, who has three points (2G / 1A) in five games, was hurt in Monday’s practice session and could miss Tuesday’s game vs. the Jets. If Spezza can’t play, expect the Stars to recall a forward from Texas (AHL).

Spezza (upper-body) is expected to return to the Stars lineup on Thursday.

Spezza has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury, but he was a full participant in Thursday’s morning skate and is expected to play tonight in Arizona. Spezza has 40 points (18G / 22A) in 52 games this season.

The Stars have signed Spezza to a four-year contract extension worth $30 million ($7.5 AAV).

Spezza was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He was acquired from Ottawa in July and has recorded four goals and 14 assists (18 points) in 20 games this season. He was making an average annual salary of seven million during his current seven-year deal, so his new deal represents a $500K raise each season.

The Senators have traded Jason Spezza and Ludwig Karlsson to the Stars for Alex Chiasson, prospects Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and a 2nd round pick in 2015.

Spezza, 31, scored 23 goals with 43 assists (66 points) in 75 games with the Senators in 2013-14. Spezza, who made it clear that he wanted out of Ottawa, refused a deal to Nashville on Draft Day, but is now on his was to Dallas. He will join Tyler Seguin as the Stars 1-2 punch. He carries a $7 million cap-hit in this, his final season on a seven-year deal.
