The Islanders have acquired J.G. Pageau from the Senators for a 2020 first-round pick, a 2020 second-round pick and a conditional 2022 third-round pick.

The 2020 first-round pick is top-three protected, and the 2022 third-rounder is conditional on the Islanders winning the Stanley Cup this season. Pageau is in the midst of a career year, scoring 24 goals and adding 16 assists in 60 games this season. The 27-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free-agent on July 1.

Pageau (Achilles) will return to the Senators lineup on Sunday.

Pageau has missed the first 41 games of the season but will return much earlier than expected. Pageau’s original timetable was late-February/early-March but will play Sunday vs. the Hurricanes. Pageau, who has 29 points (14G / 15A) in 78 games last year, will centre the third line with Zack Smith and Mikkel Boedker on his wings.

Pageau (undisclosed) will not be available on Thursday.

Pageau was injured in the Senators final game before their bye week and won’t play tonight vs. the Blues. Pageau took to the ice for Wednesday’s practice but wasn’t able to make it through the session. With Pageau as day-to-day, Filip Chlapik will be recalled from Belleville (AHL) to take his spot in the lineup.

The Sens have recalled JG Pageau from Binghamtom (AHL).

Pageau, 21, has appeared in 21 games with Ottawa this season, registering two points (two goals) and 10 penalty minutes. In 44 AHL games this season, Pageau has recorded 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points. He could get into the lineup tonight vs. Carolina because Colin Greening is battling an undisclosed injury.
