Nordstrom, 23, had three assists in 38 games with the Blackhawks last year. In 23 contests with the Hawks’ AHL affiliate in Rockford he had 16 points (9G / 7A). He will likely land a bottom six role with his new club.
Nordstorm has been suspended for his hit-from-behind on Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson in Thurday’s win. The hit came late in the third period and forced OEL to miss the final minute of play. OEL also missed practice on Friday and his status for Saturday’s game is in question.
Nordstrom has been up and down a few times this season, amassing two assists, a minus-3 rating and 25 shots in 24 games with the Blackhawks.

Nordstrom was in the lineup on Sunday and was sent down and recalled as a ‘paper move’. He was back at practice on Wednesday and skated on the fourth line. Expect him to be in the lineup on Thursday.
Nordstrom has likely been recalled to replace Jonathan Toews, who was injured on Sunday. There has been no word on how long Toews will be out, but Nordstrom will fill-in for the meantime. Nordstrom has 17 goals and 16 assists (33 points) with a plus-9 rating in 58 games with Rockford.
Nordstrom recorded one assist in two games during his most recent call-up. His assignment paves the way for Andrew Shaw to return on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Swedish centre scored his fist career NHL goal on October 11 vs. the Islanders. It was the only point he recorded in eight games before being sent down. While in Rockford he registered five goals and one assist in 15 games.
Nordstrom had one goal while averaging just 10:43 TOI in eight games.

I thought he did a good job penalty killing in the situations he’s been in. " The Hawks are still looking for someone to replace Michael Frolik as Marcus Kruger’s penalty-killing partner. Nordstrom, a third-round pick in the 2010 draft, killed penalties in the Swedish Elite League for two years before joining Rockford for 11 games last season.
